I thought I'd try it. It installed well, and worked OK for a day or so. Now, the jury's in: Windows 10 sucks. Like a big, old Hoover. When I went to log on to my computer this afternoon, it took about 20 minutes just to get my desktop to launch. When it finally showed up, nothing worked. I had to re-boot several times before everything worked right. First stop? System restore. I'm back to Win 7. I don't know why software companies think it's acceptable to put out half developed garbage like this. Apparently, they learned nothing from Windows 8!

For now going to back off from it because of the early bugs being reported and a few other issues.

That seems to be the general opinion right now!

I have the up date ready to be installed, just haven't done it yet. I'll be trying it next week end and see what happens.
Windows didn't learn a thing when they replaced 98 with ME, 2000 was a learning program and then they came out with XP ( Good program ) then they replaced that with Vista ( Sucked ) then 7 ( Good) then 8.1 ( Double Suck ) and 10 which is ? 8.1 is the only one I haven't used and glad of it.

John- I had win 10 on computer for 2 or 3 days, then the next time I tried to use computer, it wouldn't launch. I had to use my installation cd to get it to launch, then system restore to get 7 back. Be sure you've got your important files backed up!

Installed 10 on Wednesday, got an error the first time c1900101-2000c which I found out it was the hard drive overheating and locking up, put a fan blowing air over the computer, let it cool down and tried again, this time no problem and Win 10 went right in and have been using it ever since with no issues at all. I do keep my computer on 24/7 and just restart it once in a while or after up dates to it when needed. Haven't got use to it yet put I do just play and find out what the new stuff is and what it does. Didn't lose any of my data ( had it copied to another hard drive any way ) and the programs on Win 7 got transferred over and work.
The two things I don't like is their is no Media Center and No windows games which I used a lot and you can not make a DVD restore disc of Win 10, what you will get is the version you up graded from ( 7.8 or 8.1 )

I wondered what would happen if I needed to re-install win 10 after it was no longer free. I copied the computer info with 10 installed to have a record of the product ID number. Don't know if that would work or not. Plan 2 was to get a "snap shot" of the finished installation, when I had everything sorted out. Plan 3, the plan I eventually followed, was to re-install the Win 7 back-up that was made as part of the Win 10 installation. That worked perfectly.

Hi Tom, are you on 32 or 64 bit Windows ??
The product ID number is the number for Win 10 not the key code/serial # needed for the install.
I'm on 64 bit and went into Windows update site and found the upgrade files for Win 10 and but them on a DVD that way if I lose a hard drive I'll have the Win 10 upgrade to put back in but I've heard that if you reinstall Win 7 or 8 that the upgrade will come up to install from Win update until 7 or 8 program expires.

I've got 64 bit. Wasn't sure about the product number. Downloading any program to disc is always the best way to go. I kept my first computer working well for 13 years by doing a fresh install every year. At that time, I had WinXP, as well as all the updates on disc! If you go back to win7, you need to uninstall the update that triggers the update notice. I have that information, if you need it.

Thanks Tom but I have that info also. Are you going to try Win 10 again ?? Which Win 7 do you have; Home, Pro or Ultimate ??
I fix and repair computer's for extra money, been doing it for 9 year's now but getting ready to stop doing it ( people want every thing for free ) the old computers I get it are taken apart and recycled for some extra money also.

I've got home premium. I won't try 10 again unless I have to buy another computer and have no choice. One of my biggest complaints is that they load up the installation with all kinds of crap I'll never use, and don't want. I'd like to see a good, well developed, basic operating system, with everything else offered ala cart. I won't buy another new car for the same reason.

I know what you mean about the new cars, I've got a 2001 Ford F-150, 4.2 V6, 5 spd manual tranny, AM/FM/cassette in dash with a 4 cd disc changer behind the seat, only thing that is not power is the seat which is a 40/60, Factory 17 in wheels with B.F.Goodrich tires, also factory,2 wheel drive, short bed, has a little over 100,000 miles on it and the best thing is SHE'S PAID FOR.
Don't even want a new truck at all unless something happens to this one. Well, back to model building.
